HEARTS™ Official Competency-Based Training Model

Because we believe in doing things with excellence, the Nurturing God’s Way Parenting Program for Christian Families is presented through an evidence-informed 4-part training model. The training model was developed by HEARTS for Families™ and researched by Emory University.

Part One - Philosophy of the Program (approximately 8 hours content delivery)
Part 1 is offered online and is self-directed. It takes approximately 8 hours to complete and includes participant engagement activities and quizzes along the way. If an individual is familiar with Nurturing Parenting Programs® he or she can test out of taking the full online course. Once successfully trained in this part, individuals do not need to repeat it for any other Nurturing Parenting Program.

Part Two - Program Activities and Practice Opportunities (32.5 hours content delivery)

Nurturing God’s Way™ is a 21-session program and Part 2 takes 5 days with 1-2 hours per evening of additional training assignments.  Training participants receive training workbook, handouts, and hands-on experience using program specific materials. Training activities include:
  • Experience from each session with group and home practice lessons
  • Facilitator practice session opportunities and peer feedback

Part Three - Implementation Steps for Success (approximately 12 hours content delivery)

  • Implementation pitfalls to avoid
  • Current cultures regarding moral decay of generations and family dysfunction issues (substance abuse, partner violence, teen parenting, etc.)
  • Scoring assessments
  • Creating a marketing plan for the program
